Международная пресс-академия определилась с победителями 18-ой ежегодной премии Satellite Awards. Большая часть наград удивления не вызвала: лучший фильм все еще «12 лет рабства» (привет, дядя Оскар!), а Мэтью МакКонахи, Джаред Лето и Кейт Бланшетт не оставили соперникам шанса. Из неожиданностей: лучшим режиссером назван не Альфонсо Куарон за «Гравитацию», а Стив МакКуин. Зато анимационным фильмом года стал «Ветер крепчает» Хаяо Миядзаки, что не может не радовать. В сериальных номинациях нет равных «Во все тяжкие» и его актерам, лучшей экшн/приключенческой игрой становится Battlefield 4 (опа), а лучшей RPG — Ni No Kuni (ну хоть не Diablo 3).
Специальные награды вручили Майку Медавому (Mary Pickford Award), Гаррету Брауну (Tesla Award), Гильермо дель Торо (Auteur Award), Габриэлль Тана (Independent Producer of the Year Award) и Райану Куглеру (Honorary Satellite Award).
